I've been running exclusively in Altras for a very long time. I think at least since 2017. Thanks to the Ginger Runner, I'm finally able to truthfully say that I think I may have a new favorite trail shoe. The Ginger Runner released his "Gear of the Year" video about a week ago and I immediately ordered The North Face Vectiv Enduris to give them a try.
Sweet rocker action and a cushy midsole
I was curious about the rocker action of the shoe. Although it's not zero drop, it has a small 6 mm heel drop and surprisingly, the toe box doesn't crunch up my toes. I do think I need to get a lighter weight sock so my toes can move a bit more, but overall, the shoe is very comfortable.
The best part about the shoe is the cushy mid-sole and the rocker action while running. It feels like the shoes are propelling me forward as I'm running, particularly up hills. With a lot more cushion than I'm used to, down hill running feels easier on the body. I also like the look of the shoe and the fact that it has some decent looking lugs on the soles. Hoping that I can get some decent mileage out of them. I got my pair on sale for $89 on the Scheels website. Full price is $139. Psyched that I got them because I don't see them available in my size anymore.
All this said, I really have only run in them twice and only on roads and grassy trail. I'm excited to try them on more technical trail to see how they perform. This is the time of year when I'm a little hesitant to run my local trails because the leaves hide all of the rocks and roots. Landings can be a little sketchy.
My only complaint about the shoe is that the shoelaces are super short. I can barely get in a double knot. But, they seem to stay tied, so all good so far.
That's it for now. Given Altras habit of discontinuing all of my favorite shoes, I didn't feel bad about finally branching out and trying something new. If anyone from Altra is reading this, please bring back the Torin 4.0!
